Kusatsu Onsen is one of the most famous hot springs in Japan. It is also known as one of the three best hot springs in Japan.
Yubatake, the symbol of the town, is located in the center of the hot spring resort area, and visitors can enjoy strolling around the area after taking a bath.
1. Ryokan Naraya
Since its establishment in 1877, Naraya Ryokan has been located near Yubatake, the center of Kusatsu Onsen.
The baths are carefully poured by “yumamori,” to soften the strong stimulation characteristic of Kusatsu’s hot spring water and make it soft and smooth to the touch.
Naraya is proud of the hot spring water and offers it to our guests in its best condition.
2. Boun
Located on a hill in the center of the hot spring resort area, this Japanese-style ryokan has a Japanese garden and a bath with two different mineral water sources.
The cuisine is kaiseki cuisine prepared with local ingredients. Please enjoy your stay in a relaxing atmosphere.
3. La Vista Kusatsu Hills
Hotel “La Vista” with a view was born on a hill overlooking the town of Kusatsu Onsen as all rooms have an open-air natural hot spring bath.
While inside the hotel, guests can enjoy three sources of hot spring water (Yubatake, Bandai Mine, and Yukawa no Yu).
At the restaurant, you can enjoy a Western-style full-course meal using locally produced seasonal ingredients and carefully selected foods!
4. Tokinoniwa Hotel
This ryokan is located on a hill overlooking Kusatsu Onsen, and all the rooms have open-air baths.
The inn has tatami mats laid on the floor inside the building, and with two sources of hot spring water, guests can fully enjoy the feeling of visiting 23 different hot spring bathhouses in the inn.
For dinner, we offer a selection of Japanese kaiseki dishes that change monthly. Please enjoy the seasonal ingredients.
5. Hotel Ichii
Located in the center of the hot spring resort area, overlooking the “Yubatake” hot spring spring, this inn has been in business for 300 years.
The Ishiden, our large public bath, was renovated in 2021 with new bathtubs of different temperatures. Those who do not like hot water and children can take a bath in the bathtub.
Please enjoy Japanese cuisine with a choice of room, dining room or hall meals.
6. Hotel Sakurai
The large public bath and the open-air baths, which draw from three different springs, are attractive. The large public bath, one of the largest in Kusatsu Onsen, is a mixture of Bandai Mine and Nishi-no-Kawahara sources, and the open-air bath is Watano-yu, a nigori-yu (nigori-yu), allowing guests to enjoy the differences in spring quality within the hotel.
For dinner, we offer both buffet and kaiseki meals, where you can enjoy seasonal ingredients.
Every night, Kusatsu’s famous “Yumomi Show” and “Sakura Daiko Show” are held at the Festival Square.
7. Osakaya Ryokan
This Japanese-style ryokan with a relaxed atmosphere is located on Takishita Street below Yubatake, the center of Kusatsu Onsen.
The hot spring water is drawn from the “Yubatake Source of Spring”, and guests can enjoy the high quality of the hot spring water.
Osakaya offer Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine. The cuisine, which incorporates seasonal and local ingredients purchased from all over Japan, has been well received by our guests.
8. URAKUSATSU TOU
The Jizo Fountain, which flows into the hotel’s bathtubs, has long been known as the “Hot Water of Healing and Magi” that cures disease, and can be enjoyed in the main bathrooms, open-air guest room baths, and four private baths. In addition to traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine, guests can enjoy “creative kaiseki” dishes prepared with originality and ingenuity, as well as “robata ryori” (cooking over a charcoal fire). Please enjoy a course-style dinner and a set meal filled with the colors of the four seasons for breakfast.
9. Ichinoyu
The concept of Ichinoyu is to live as if you were living in the house. Wake up in the morning, soak in the hot spring, walk around the town and look at the mountains. The space is as free as your home, so you can stay as you like.
Hot spring water gushes from the underground of Ichinoyu’s property. Enjoy our “private hot spring,” which is said to have the largest amount of “hot spring water” of all the hot springs in Kusatsu Onsen.
10. Hotel Village
Resort Hotel in Kusatsu Onsen Nature-rich “Beltz Forest”.
Three sources of hot spring water are drawn from Yubatake, Bandai Mine and Watanoyu. The hotel also offers a variety of activities, such as skiing in winter and swimming pool and tennis in summer, that cannot be enjoyed in a single day.
For dinner, a buffet with local ingredients, Western and Japanese dishes are available.
